Abu Dhabi, April 27 (IANS/WAM) Top officials of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have met their counterparts from Portugal, Italy, Peru, China, Spain and Nigeria to discuss strengthening ties.
UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan met in Lisbon Friday his Portuguese counterpart Paulo Portas and discussed ways to enhance ties.
The officials signed two agreements for cooperation in renewable energy and higher education and scientific research.
UAE Ambassador in Rome Abdul Aziz Bin Nasser Al Shamsi Friday met Italian President Giorgio Napolitano at the Islamic Centre and Grand Mosque in Rome.
Relations between the UAE and Peru were discussed by Jassem Mohammed Al Qasimi, director of economic affairs and international relations at the foreign ministry, and Ambassador of Peru to UAE Jaime Pomareda.
Al Qasimi also met Chinese ambassador to the UAE Huang Jiemin, and discussed matters of common concern to both countries.
Relations between the UAE and Spain were discussed by Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo.
Nigerian Aviation Minister Princess Stella Oduah paid a special visit to the Dubai International Airport, while heading a Nigerian delegation to explore cooperation between the two countries in the aviation sector.
