Rio De Janeiro, April 27 (IANS) Fluminense star striker Fred insisted that he is close to recapturing his goalscoring form despite a subdued performance in the team's 0-0 draw against Internacional.
The Copa Libertadores round of 16 first-leg match marked his return from a two-week break due to a strained right thigh, reported Xinhua.
When questioned about his form after the match Thursday, the ex-Lyon forward replied: "That's what happens when a striker doesn't score. Thankfully I'm well and striving to keep improving."
"The goals will come back. You can bet on it," he added.
Fred also had words of support for teammate Thiago Neves, who was also below his best against Internacional.
"No one is worried about Thiago. His ability to open up space is very important. He always takes on the responsibility and the team values his contribution."
