Washington, Apr 26 (ANI): Facebook has formed a partnership with five security software companies to clear out malicious URLs from the internet.

Microsoft, McAfee, Trend Micro, Sophos and Symantec will join the fight with Facebook to keep its users from sharing links to sites that install malware, The Los Angeles Times reports.

Over 900 million users on Facebook reportedly post a ton of links, some from blacklisted sites. Facebook now will warn its users beforehand, when they click on a site that could possibly pose a threat to their computers.

As part of the new partnerships, users are being given the option to sign up for a free six-month subscription to install the anti-virus software on their computer. (ANI)
