Akhilesh opposes chief minister being brought under purview of state ombudsman

Lucknow, Apr 26 (ANI): A day after Uttar Pradesh Lokayukta Justice N K Mehrotra suggested bringing the chief minister under the Lokayukta's purview, state Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, said he was not in favour of such a move.

Interacting with mediapersons on the sidelines of an event on Thursday, Yadav said he still had reservations on the matter.

"This news has surfaced in newspapers and some statements have been published. We will collect the information but we are not in its favour," said Yadav.

On Wednesday, media had reported that Justice Mehrotra had sent a proposal to Yadav, suggesting that the chief minister and village heads should be brought under its purview.

He had further said that the Akhilesh had asked him for suggestions to strengthen and make the institution of Lokayukta a multi-member body. (ANI)
