Kolkata, April 25 (IANS) The Indian Plastics Federation will set up a Rs.25 crore knowledge centre in West Bengal to run courses on plastic processing, an official said.
The construction work for the project is likely to commence from October.
"We will be setting up a knowledge centre at Sankrail (in Howrah district) to run different courses on plastic processing. Globsyn will impart training to the students to help them get job in the country's plastic processing industry," IPF knowledge centre chairman Amar Seth said here Wednesday.
Seth said the construction work for the project was likely to start from October this year.
The National Skill Development Council (NSDC) would provide certificates for the courses.
Total investment for the project would be Rs 25 crore and in the first phase around Rs 10 crore would be spent.
The Knowledge Centre will be coming up on a 1.02 acres of land at Sankrail.
"When the Centre will be in full-fledge, it would have a capacity to impact training to about 3000 students per year," Seth informed.
Meanwhile, IPF said it will organise the sixth International Exhibition on Plastics from October 5 in the city.
"The surplus money to be raised from this year's exhibition will be used in setting up of the Knowledge Centre," IPF executive secretary Jayanta Bandyopadhyay said.
