London, Apr 24(ANI): Interim Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has emerged as a strong contender for the manager's post at the club, following a series of impressive results, and winning the Champions League with the Blues would almost ensure he is the club's next manager.
Such has been the increasing influence of Di Matteo that he has been asked to help plan Chelsea's preparations for next season as he stands on the brink of giving his chances of keeping the manager's job the biggest possible boost.
Di Matteo has managed to impress technical director Michael Emenalo with his team selections, attention to detail and the way he has got the squad together.
The pair has also discussed which young players they might bring through, The Daily Express reports.
There have also been talk over plans for a summer tour to America, and Di Matteo has advised on schedules, training bases and told players which dates to keep free.
Emenalo will hand over a portfolio of candidates, including Di Matteo, to owner Roman Abramovich. (ANI)
