London, Apr 24(ANI): Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure has said his team has been given a second chance in the Premier League title race by old foes and table toppers Manchester United, and it is important for them to grab this opportunity with open hands.
City can move ahead of United and secure the top spot by winning the 163rd Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium next Monday, despite appearing to be out of the race after falling eight points adrift of the champions just two weeks ago.
United's 4-4 draw at Old Trafford to Everton on Sunday ensured that City, who went on to win 2-0 at Wolverhampton Wanderers hours later, now control their own destiny in the title race.
Toure insists that Roberto Mancini's team is dogged to make the most of their surprise let off by United due to their unexpected loss in form.We now have a second chance and I hope we take it because it is very important for us. That is why I come to City, to make history with the club and for us to win this competition would be fantastic," The Telegraph quoted Toure, as saying.
"I'm quite surprised because for United to drop points at home like that is quite surprising. Years ago, United was so strong. They are still strong, you have to say that because they are first in the table, but sometime you can do a mistake and United made a mistake on Sunday," he added.
"We have taken advantage. We are keeping going and we are working hard to create our chance to win this trophy," he said. (ANI)
