London, April 24 (ANI): More and more men are plumping for wrinkle-smoothing injections in a bid to look younger, says an expert.
Men now account for almost one in five Botox patients, with famous fans of the "Boy-tox" trend including Simon Cowell, Gordon Ramsay and David Hasselhoff.
The Harley Medical Group have seen a five per cent hike in the number of their male patients.
"Botox for men is a growing market. It is becoming more and more acceptable," the Sun quoted Harley Street Skin Clinic Clinical Director Dr Aamer Khan as saying.
"We see a lot of men who just want a fresher, more youthful appearance.
"Men tend to start the treatment ten years later than women - around their late thirties. Most are persuaded by their partners to try it.
"If their wife or girlfriend is having botox and achieving natural results, or may mention to her partner that he looks tired or haggard, he'll probably be spurred on to try it.
"The other trend is for those a little older, in professions and workplaces where they are aware of their face-to-face contact with younger colleagues.
"They don't want to look tired and angry with a furrowed brow and feel there is competition in the workplace to look good.
"The final group are those we call the 'second time around' - men who want to look good after becoming single later in life," Dr Khan said.
Dr Khan advises those keen to try Botox to select a reputable clinic.
He said, "A good site to check out for reputable practitioners and clinics is TYCT, treatmentsyoucan trust.org.uk.
"In short Botox for men is booming," he added. (ANI)
