Guwahati, April 24 (IANS) Four women died while seven other people were rescued after an overloaded boat capsized in lower Assam's Dhubri district Tuesday, police said.
The victims were brick kiln labourers, police said, adding that all four bodies had been fished out.
Another seven people, who were also travelling in the boat, were rescued by local people after the mishap, they said.
"All the 11 people were brick kiln labourers, and they had gone to Dheerghat in the morning hours for their work. However, they did not work and decided to return to Chapar and took a boat ride to shorten the distance. The boat capsized in the middle of the river due to over-loading," a police official said.
