London, Apr 23(ANI): Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson has confessed his team has "thrown it away" after United lost grip on the Champion League title.
"It was terrible defending, we've thrown it away, it's as simple as that," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.
United twice blew a two-goal lead to draw 4-4 with Everton and now Manchester City is believed to be the top contender for the title.
City will clinch the title if they win at Wolves, and they beat United, win at Newcastle and, subsequently, defeat Queen Park Rangers at the Etihad, they will almost certainly be champions - barring a United goal spree.
Ferguson has described the April 30 clash as the biggest derby ever.
"We need to get a result at the Etihad, there is no question about that - we need to perform. There is no reason why we cannot do that. The game next Monday would always be a derby game of highest proportions and this won't be any different," he said. (ANI)
