Islamabad, Apr 23(ANI): The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan has begun inspection of all private passenger planes after a disaster was averted in Karachi following Friday's deadly Bhoja aircrash.
"The CAA launched a comprehensive inspection of airplanes being flown by private airlines, from today," The Express Tribune quoted CAA spokesman Pervez George as saying.
The CAA has already received a Bhoja Air plane for conducting the so-called "shakedown" checks by engineers, he added.
He refused to give any timeline for completion of the process, and added: "it is difficult to say how much time the inspectors will take to examine each plane and all its systems".
"We have asked all the private airlines to reschedule their domestic and international flights during the inspection so the passengers do not have to suffer," he added.
The Pakistan government ordered checks on private airlines after a Shaheen Air flight, with 178 people on board, narrowly averted disaster when its left rear tyre burst after its landing gear broke as it touched down at the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi.
The incident took place after a Bhoja Air Boeing 737 crashed near Islamabad, killing all 127 people on board. (ANI)
