New Delhi, April 22 (IANS) A woman was found dead at her home in west Delhi, police said Sunday, adding her husband was missing for the last three days.
According to police, the neighbours informed the police when they got a foul smell emanating from the couple's home in Bindapur area and the team despatched to the spot broke down the main door to gain access after recognizing that the smell was that of a decaying body.
"We were informed about the incident after the couple's neighbours encountered a foul smell emanating from their house around 10 p.m. last (Saturday) evening," said a senior police officer.
Inside, the police team found the television switched on, at a loud volume and the woman's body lying on a double bed.
The deceased has been identified as Simran Grover, a resident of the Kiran Garden area. She was 35.
"Initial medical examination suggests death by strangulation and the decayed nature of the body means she died around 48 hours ago. It seems the murderer left the television blaring at high volume to muffle her screams," the officer said Sunday evening.
Police said her husband Kamal was an autorickshaw driver and was missing for the last three days. A case has been registered at the Bindapur Police Station and a search is on for him.
