Los Angeles, April 22 (IANS) Spanish actor Antonio Banderas, who sported a beard for 2011 action thriller "Haywire", had to get $10,000 worth of false facial hair made as he shaved the real one off before shooting was complete.
The actor was left stunned when director Steven Soderbergh told him there were three new scenes to shoot. So the special effects crew designed an expensive fake beard for the actor to wear, reports contactmusic.com.
"Steven met me in New York when I was doing a workshop for a musical, 'Zorba The Greek'. I was trying out a beard for the role, which my wife hated so was going to shave off, but Steven said, 'It's perfect for your character,'" he told Total Film.
"Six months after I finished, he phoned me and said, 'I love your character, so I've written three new scenes for him.' I said, 'But I don't have the beard anymore.' So they built me one for $10,000," he added.
