Washington, Apr 21 (ANI): 'Basketball Wives' star Nia Crooks has been charged with misdemeanour battery for slapping Jennifer Williams in the face.
According to TMZ, a representative for the Broward County State's Attorney's Office said that officials decided to file the charge on April 10 after Jennifer Williams, ex wife of basketball player Eric Williams filed a criminal complaint.
If convicted, Crooks faces up to a year in the slammer.
On the last episode the 'Basketball Wives' women went to the racetrack for a day of fun, but things turned ugly when Crooks and Williams got into a heated argument that turned into a physical fight.
During the incident, Crooks can be heard threatening to slap Williams ... to which Jennifer replied, "I wish you would."
"We will vigorously defend Nia against these charges. The women on the show executed contracts expressly accepting the risk that a physical altercation could occur," TMZ quoted Marc David Seitles, Crooks lawyer, as saying.
"Given that Jennifer herself has previously instigated fights on the show, to cry foul now is absurd and a desperate attempt for publicity and money. We will fight until Nia is vindicated," the lawyer added. (ANI)
