London, Apr 21 (ANI): Victoria Beckham has denied claims that she gave her eight-month-old daughter Harper Seven a one-off baby monitor customised by Damien Hirst.
According to recently revealed reports, the Beckahm family is a fan of the Brit artist, who is best known for suspending animals in tanks of formaldehyde and his diamond-encrusted human skull.
Contemporary art critic, David Lee, estimated the gadget to be worth in the region of 10,000 pounds because of Hirst's place in the art market and the celebrity connection, but now it has emerged that the rumours are untrue.
"There are no baby gifts, or Damien Hirst baby monitor," the Daily Mail quoted their publicist Jo Milloy as saying.
"The story is completely untrue," Milloy said.
The Sun, which first reported the story, also claimed that the Beckham mansion contains at least three paintings, and a silver bull's heart by Hirst while the new baby monitor sports the artist's signature butterfly motif.
"Artistically it's valueless, but because of Hirst's position in the market place it's worth something to people," David Lee, editor of the Jackdaw arts magazine, said.
"There is novelty value and people will pay significantly more for items once owned by a celebrity. You can't really display the baby monitor on a mantlepiece, but it's crazy the prices that people pay these days.
"The Beckhams probably paid little more than 100 pounds but now I would estimate the baby monitor to be worth 10,000 pounds," Lee said.
However it was confirmed that the wife of footballer David Beckham owns a pair of Manolo Blahnik ankle boots personalised by the artist, which were inspired by one if his spot paintings. (ANI)
