Anton Ferdinand says big brother Rio has been 'rock' for him during his 'racist' slur hell

London, Apr 21(ANI): Queens Park Rangers defender Anton Ferdinand, who is involved in a court case in which he has accused Chelsea captain John Terry of racially abusing him, has said his brother Rio has been a real support for him.

Since the day Terry allegedly racially abused Ferdinand at Loftus Road on October 23, he has had to cope with the full glare of the spotlight.

There have also been some very public abuses from Blues fans who have chanted: "Anton Ferdinand you know what you are."

Ferdinand believes he is playing some of the best football of his career, despite it being a traumatic season, and has expressed his gratitude towards his elder brother Rio, and family for supporting him during these tough times.

"Rio has been a real rock for me. He's a rock for me in everything I do, not just football, in all aspects of life," The Sun quoted Ferdinand, as saying.But my whole family have been there for me, that's the way we are. If one is struggling everyone gets behind them and makes them feel 12-foot tall," he added.

Ferdinand also revealed how he has suffered extreme abuses at the hands of rival fans, and how he has coped with it.

"Some of the abuse has been extreme, some of it has been very extreme and I'm thinking 'how can they even be giving me any stick?' But this is the world we live in. You have to deal with it and I deal with it by playing my football," Ferdinand said. (ANI)
