Kolkata, April 20 (IANS) West Bengal's Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) Friday alleged that an official at Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's secretariat was not being arrested despite a non-bailable case against him and was using his clout to subvert the legal process.
"There is an official at the CM's secretariat who has an FIR against his name for some non-bailable offence. But he is not being arrested. And he is using his clout to stop the legal process," Leader of the opposition Surjya Kanta Mishra told media persons here.
However, he refused to name the officer.
Assailing the Banerjee government, Mishra said: "Not a single day passes without somebody falling victim to political violence in some part of the state".
He recounted several such incidents and said a woman who had filed a police complaint of molestation has been threatened by Trinamool Congress-backed miscreants to withdraw the allegation at Contai of East Midnapore district.
"She was told that her daughter would face the consequences if she pursued the complaint".
