Manu Gandas Wins Toyota IGU Haryana Junior

Gurgaon, April 20 (IANS) Manu Gandas of DLF Golf and Country Club won the Toyota Indian Golf Union (IGU) Haryana Junior Golf Championship at the par 72 championship course of Golden Greens Golf Resort here Friday.

Gandas finished with a total score of two over 290 (71-69-72-78) defeating the second placed defending champion Honey Baisoya by a margin of one stroke.

Shubhankar Sharma of ITC Classic Golf Resort finished third on the leader board with a four-day score of 294 (75-71-75-73)

Gandas, who was sitting on the top of the leader board in A category since the first day, scored two birdies on the 9th and 15th hole while scoring a four bogies on 4th, 6th, 8th and 18th, and a double on 7th.

"I am delighted with this win, although I didn't perform at par with my capabilities today. My chipping was bad and putting was not that good either. But in the end, result fell in my favour and I really happy about it. I am looking forward to carry this form to the tournament in Jaipur next week," said Gandas.

Baisoya carded a total of 291 (73-73-70-75) to book second place birth after pushing Manu till the 18th hole which resulted in a hard fought victory for the latter.
