New Delhi, April 19 (IANS) An angry fan assaulted a shopkeeper in south Delhi for switching the television off while an Indian Premier League(IPL) match was in progress, police said Thursday, adding he has been arrested.

According to police, Govind Lal, of Sunlight Colony in Kilokri village, was watching the match Wednesday night, when he got in an argument with Belu Gandhi who told Lal not to turn off the television.

"Unfazed, Lal turned off the television, infuriating Gandhi, who then attacked him with an unidentified weapon," a police official said.

"Badly injured, Lal was rushed to a nearby hospital while Gandhi escaped," he added.

Lal's condition is said to be stable while police caught Gandhi.
