Mumbai, April 19 (IANS) Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, who is all set for the release of his next film "Department", says the movie is distinct from his past projects "Satya" and "Company", and claims that it caters to the masses.
"'Department' is not based on gangsters. But yes with 'Department', we are talking about the police department and with police department... and somewhere gangsters are also there," the 50-year-old said here.
"Having said that, the film's format is very different from 'Company' and 'Satya'. It is more of a mass entertainer format...," he added.
"Department", releasing May 18, features Amitabh Bachchan, Rana Daggubati and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles.
An item number "Dan dan cheeni" from the film is already creating waves. The song features Brazilian model Nathalia Kaur.
