Trinidad, Apr 17(ANI): Australia has clinched control of the second Test against the West Indies after Michael Clarke opted to open the bowling with left-arm spinner Michael Beer.
That move left the Windies struggling to score 3-49 with Shivnarine Chanderpaul (1no) and Darren Bravo (16no) at the crease, stuff.co.nz reports.
Both Australian bowlers Beer (1-22) and Ben Hilfenhaus (1-12) did not concede a run for five overs at the start of the Windies innings, and Hilfenhaus took Kraigg Brathwaite's (0) wicket.
Beer, playing in just his second Test, had success when he trapped opener Adrian Barath (7) lbw in the 13th over.
Australia were dismissed for 311 in their first innings at Queen's Park Oval with the help of paceman James Pattinson and Michael Hussey in a vital 89-run seventh wicket stand.
For the Windies, Kemar Roach claimed the third five-wicket haul of his career to finish with 5-105, while spinner Narsingh Deonarine took Hussey's wicket. (ANI)
