London, Apr 17(ANI): Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, who scored a brace in their 4-0 win against Aston Villa on Sunday, believes he must improve his game and score more goals to help United clinch their 20th Premier League title.
Rooney has netted 31 goals this season in all competitions this season, which is three less than his career-best figures of 34 goals that he achieved two years back.
United manager Ferguson nitpicked about of him being careless and casual before replacing him with Dimitar Berbatov in the 74th minute against Villa.
He was also substituted during the 1-0 defeat at Wigan last Wednesday following another below par display, and Rooney admits he needs to rediscover his form despite being happy with his two goals.
"I'm delighted with my goals against Villa, but at times it was not good enough from myself, I was disappointed with that and I have to put it right," The Telegraph quoted Rooney, as saying.
"Obviously, I'm happy with the goals, but the rest of my play wasn't great. We were disappointed with our performance against Wigan but Villa was a chance to get it out of our systems," he added.
"We had to try and keep that distance of five points between us [and City], so it was a big game for us," he said.
Rooney is one goal short of moving to joint fourth in United's all-time goal scoring charts, and joining George Best and Dennis Viollet on 179. (ANI)
