Tilaknagar Industries' plants get 'mega project' status

Mumbai, April 17 (IANS) Liqour maker Tilaknagar Industries' new facility has been accorded "mega project" status by the Maharashtra government.

 

The facility in Shrirampur has a 50-kilolitre per day (KLPD) molasses distillation plant, a 100-KLPD grain distillation plant and a captive power plant, Lalit Sethi, the company's president, said Tuesday. The main plant has an installed capacity of 200 KLPD -- 100-KLPD for molasses and 100-KLPD for grain distillation.

 

"With this status, we will now be entitled to a host of monetary benefits, including the Industrial Promotion Subsidy, till March 2018 in the form of refunds equal to 100 percent of eligible investments of Rs.25.46 billion," he said.

 

The Rs.47-billion company has 36 facilities in India, 17 of which are tie-ups, nine leased, nine subsidiaries and one company-owned.

 

Tilaknagar Industries, based in Ahmednagar, was set up in 1973. It is a subsidiary of Maharashtra Sugar Mills Ltd, founded in 1933 by industrialist M.L. Dahanukar.

 

The company produces 40 IMFL (Indian Made Foreign Liquor) brands. It also exports IMFL to western Africa, Middle East, Far East and the Caribbean.
