Krishna condemns violence in Afghanistan

Abu Dhabi , Mon, 16 Apr 2012 ANI

Abu Dhabi, Apr 16 (ANI): Expressing profound concern over the violence in Kabul, xternal Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna on Monday said India believes that Afghanistan will have to sort out the issues among themselves in a civilized manner without resorting to mindless violence.

"I condemn the violence, which has gone on and I would like to convey India's profound concern to President Karzai and the people of Afghanistan. India believes that Afghanistan will have to sort out the issues among themselves in a civilized manner without resorting to mindless violence," said Krishna.

"And it is India's hope and desire that normalcy will be restored in Kabul and in Afghanistan. And Afghanistan will try to move ahead, develop itself and flourish as a nation," he added.

Kabul and three other Afghan cities were hit by a wave of suicide attacks on Sunday, with embassies and NATO bases coming under fire in what Taliban said was the start of their 'spring offensive'.

The Afghan security forces, responsible for security, took the lead in countering the assault. (ANI)
