Islamabad, Apr 16 (ANI): Tauqir Amaan Khan, a Pakistani, has translated the Quran into Punjabi for the first time.
Being a Punjabi himself, Khan felt it was his responsibility to convey the message of Allah to the people in his native language. The Arabic text runs parallel to the Punjabi translation, the Daily Times reports.
"I started my work in 2002, after I came back from Hajj," he said, adding that he spent four years reading the works of Hafiz Nazar Muhammad, Maulana Bashir Ahmad, Dr Israr Ahmad and several others, to understand the work of authentic ulemas.
Khan said his aim was to satisfy readers of all sects since the Quran's message was a universal.
"In 2007 I translated Suraha-e-Fatiha into Punjabi and worked for eighteen to twenty hours every day," he disclosed, mentioning that during that period, he did not meet any friend or relatives.
Khan completed the project in December 2009.
Khan is in search of sponsors to help him to print and market his translated version of the Quran. (ANI)
