Ganso scores twice as Santos thrash Catanduvense

Rio de Janeiro, April 16 (IANS) Paulo Henrique Ganso scored two goals and Neymar one to help Santos sweep Catanduvense aside 5-0 in the Sao Paulo championship.

The Brazilian internationals turned on an exhilarating display with Ganso's opener coming from a brilliant chip over the opposition goalkeeper Filipi Sunday.

Minutes later, Filipi made amends by blocking a spectacular Neymar bicycle kick from the edge of the area, Xinhua reported.

Humberlito Borges also scored either side of the break as Santos secured third spot on the table.

An Alecsandro double helped Vasco da Gama to a 3-1 victory over Nova Iguacu. The victory ensured Vasco a spot in the Rio Cup semi-finals against Flamengo, which defeated Americano 3-1 with two goals from Deivid.
