Karachi, Apr 13(ANI): Pakistan has detained nine Indian fishermen, alongwith their five boats for intruding into its territorial waters in the Arabian Sea, but also released 26 Indian fishermen, including a cancer patient.
According to a Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) official, the body nabbed nine Indian fishermen, alongwith their five boats, for poaching into Pakistan's waters around 70 nautical miles from its shores, The Daily Times reports.
The fishermen continue to intrude into Pakistan's marine rich Indus delta region containing high quality fish, at the cost of livelihood of local fishermen resulting in depletion of fish stock and ecological damage to rare fish species, he added.
The arrested fishermen were handed over to the Docks police who registered a FIR under the Foreign and Fishery Acts and initiated further investigation into the case. (ANI)
