Islamabad, Apr 13(ANI): The Pakistan Supreme Court has named newly-appointed Attorney General Irfan Qadri as the prosecutor in the contempt of court case against Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and has adjourned the hearing till April 16.
A seven-member bench ruled that Qadri and not former attorney general Anwar-ul -Haq would be the prosecutor for the case, The Express Tribune reports.
An argument began between the judges and Gilani's lawyer Aitzaz Aitzaz during the hearing when newly appointed Attorney General Irfan Qadir requested the court that he be given some time to review the case.
Meanwhile, Ahsan said that he had also brought to the court's notice that a media group had accused him of being a liar and added it was up to the court to decide if he was a liar or not.
He also stressed that under Article 10 (a), the process of a fair trial is now a fundamental right of every person and added that Supreme Court's rules are not superior to Pakistan's Constitution. (ANI)
