Lucknow, April 13 (IANS) The Lucknow police Friday submitted a chargesheet against 31 people, including state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Surya Pratap Shahi, for causing public nuisance in a local court.
All the 31 have been charged with causing public nuisance in the chief judicial magistrate's court here.
According to the chargesheet, the accused, while protesting in April last year against the UPA (United Progressive Alliance) government on the 2G scam issue, were obstructing government officials from discharging their duty.
All the 31 chargesheeted people have been asked to present themselves in court June 5.
An FIR (first information report) in the case was lodged by sub-inspector Shiv Narayan Singh April 29, 2011, since permission had been denied to the BJP leaders to hold the protest as prohibitory orders were in force.
