New Delhi, April 12 (IANS) Benefiting around 45,000 students in the northeastern region, the cabinet Thursday approved a Rs.388.68 crore project to train the youth in the areas of information, electronics and communication technologies (IECT).
The project will be implemented by the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), an autonomous society under the Department of Electronics and Information Technology, Communications and IT Minister Kapil Sibal told reporters after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Besides students, the project would also benefit teachers, entrepreneurs, local industry, government employees, educated employed and various disadvantaged sections of the society, Sibal added.
