London, Apr 12(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said his team is going to improve further this season, and has expressed full confidence in his players despite losing 1-0 to relegation threatened Wigan Athletic at DW Stadium on Wednesday.
A brilliant goal from Shaun Maloney was enough to take three points from United's eight-points lead over cross road rivals Manchester City.
It also gave Wigan their first win over the English champions after 14 straight defeats, but Ferguson is far from flustered, and believes his tam would bounce back rather than blow it.
City's 4-0 win over West Bromwich Albion at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday meant they trail United by five points only.
"We have been on a great run and that has put us in a position where we can win the league," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.
"We were well behind City a couple of months ago on goal difference and points, so we have to take some credit for getting back in the race. We'll improve from this performance, I'm sure of that," he added. (ANI)
