London, Apr 12 (ANI): Bubba Watson, who has just won the Masters for the first time in his career, has been seen crying every time he discusses his win on most of his interviews.
It's no surprise, as the 33-year-old golfer has had a challenging few weeks - becoming a father for the first time and still mourning the loss of his own father while winning his first ever major title.
During interviews since the win, including those on Piers Morgan Tonight, ESPN and MSNBC's Morning Joe, interviewers have quizzed him about his father and the legacy he left behind, the Daily Mail reported.
Gerry Watson Sr., who gave his son the name Bubba because "I was so fat and ugly", passed away two years ago from throat cancer.
The mention of his name was enough to make Watson's nose wrinkle and lips purse, as he struggled to put into words how grateful he was for his father, the man who first put a golf club in his hands.
As he hugged his caddie and then held his mother Mollie in disbelief at beating South Africa's Louis Oosthuizen for the title and 1.4-million-dollar prize, thoughts of his loved ones filed his mind.
After his win, the committed Christian said: "My dad's not here, but he's watching in heaven."
"It is to honour my parents, to honour my late dad - all the people who have got me to this point in my life - all my fans. It was all for them," he told Piers Morgan.
Speaking on Morning Joe, he admitted the thought of his father made him particularly emotional.
Stalling the interview as he struggled to control his tears, Watson who has never had any golf lessons, eventually recounted his father taking him for his first game. (ANI)
