Washington, April 11 (ANI): Indian-origin Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal has came out in support of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney as his closest rival Rick Santorum suspended his presidential election campaign.
"Congratulations to Governor Romney on winning a hard fought race, I look forward to supporting him in retiring President Obama," Politico quoted Jindal, as saying.
"I'd also like to congratulate Senator Santorum for running a strong race and for making the difficult decision to step aside at this time," he added.
Jindal's move came just hours after fellow governors Terry Branstad and Rick Scott as well as Senator Lindsey Graham also supported Romney.
Jindal had earlier indicated that he would stay out of the GOP contest, but according to the report, his decision to step forward following Santorum's withdrawal underscores that. (ANI)
