London, Apr 11(ANI): Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has said his team's team-bonding trip to famous Scottish golfing venue, St Andrews last month, had helped them in pipping bitter title rivals Manchester City to the top of the league table.
Since that trip United have beaten Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers, and are now in a pole position going into the back six.
"They've done well, the lads. The little trip we had to St Andrews was fantastic," The Sun quoted Ferguson, as saying.
"I didn't play and I'm glad because there are some bandits at our club. There's no chance you can win. The players loved it. On the Friday about half a dozen of them had nine holes," he added.
"It helped with the unity of the players. It was a good moment for us. It makes you realise when players stay together, they become a team very easily," he said.
United are eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table, but Ferguson has refused to get carried away, as he believes playing the relegation threatened teams isn't an easy task.
"We are playing teams from the bottom but that doesn't make them easy," he said. (ANI)
