New Delhi, Apr 10 (ANI): Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne, said here today that the Indian Air Force (IAF) was poised for a strategic transformation and asked the Air Force Commanders to focus on maintaining high operational readiness.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony inaugurated the first bi-annual IAF Commander's Conference for 2012 at Air Headquarters (Vayu Bhawan) here today
Emphasizing that the IAF warriors in the fields must get full support to accomplish their assigned tasks, Air Chief Marshal Browne said: "IAF's vision statement - 'People First Mission Always' - aims at inculcating a culture where each one of us pays attention to looking after the needs and requirements of people placed below us. Our air warriors in the fields must get full support to accomplish their assigned tasks."
"Our operations, rest on three pillars - Operational capability, Operational Infrastructure and Security of these operational assets. An operational mindset must dictate all our actions and the primacy of operations in all our actions must be understood by each and every air warrior as well as be demonstrated in our daily work. The IAF is poised for a strategic transformation; how we would be a decade down the line, will depend on how we perform now", he added.
The Defence Minister was introduced to the Air Force Commanders and the Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at Air Headquarters by the Air Chief on his arrival here.
The four-day conference would focus on - 'Optimisation of Weapons' and would have the Commanders carry out review on issues relating to operations, infrastructure development and capability enhancement, personnel, training, aviation safety, maintenance and administration.
The conference is also scheduled to have Army chief General V K Singh, and Foreign Secretary Ranjan Mathai, besides other distinguished guests to interact with the Commanders. (ANI)
