Islamabad, April 10 (IANS) Six Shia Muslims were shot dead in southwest Pakistan Monday night in a sectarian attack, police said.
The motorcycle-borne gunmen opened fire at a shop in Quetta, the capital of Balochistan province. Witnesses said the attack took place on the Prince road.
Four people died at the scene while two others succumbed to their injuries in a military hospital. The gunmen fled after the attack, Xinhua reported.
The Hazara Democratic Party in Quetta has condemned the attack and its supporters have staged a protest outside the hospital where two of the victims were admitted.
Shia groups have, meanwhile, announced a three-day mourning.
Heavy police contingents were deployed in the city.
