Barbados (West Indies), Apr 9(ANI): Australia vice-captain Shane Watson believes off spinner Nathan Lyon is facing the toughest test of his short international cricket career in the Caribbean.
Lyon finished with 1-94 off 31 overs against the West Indies in Barbados on Sunday, and these were the most runs he has conceded in an innings so far in his 11 matches Test career.
Watson thinks Lyon will learn from his tough introduction to bowling in the Caribbean, and bounce back in the remainder of the three-Test series.
He said that the entire Australian bowling attack was finding it tough to adjust to Caribbean conditions.
When asked whether the Caribbean series was the toughest challenge faced by Lyon so far, Watson replied: "Probably from the difference in conditions I think so. That wicket was a challenge for all our bowlers, not just Nathan."
"There wasn't that much going on in the wicket, there wasn't that much turn as well. It was a big challenge for all of us really. There's no doubt we've all learned a fair bit about how we're going to try and do it better next time. He'll be doing exactly the same thing as well," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Watson, as saying."He'll make sure he does a good job next time he bowls because he's got a lot of skill and he does learn very quickly. It's been a good learning experience for him I think," he added. (ANI)
