Barbados (West Indies), Apr 7(ANI): Australian middle order batsman Michael Hussey has said that the West Indies' pace attack is more than capable of causing serious problems for the Aussie batsmen, and they can not be taken lightly.
The Windies might not boast of the intimidating pace attack which they possessed in past, but the likes of Kemar Roach, Ravi Rampaul and Fidel Edwards would be eager to make a mark against the mighty Aussies.
"You've got to rate them very highly. All of them at their best are extremely challenging to play against as a batsman," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hussey, as saying.
"He's [Edwards] got good pace, a good bouncer. He bowls well with the old ball, with reverse swing. So they're obviously very good assets for him," he added.Hussey added: "And then you've got Roach, who has good genuine pace as well ... but we know if we can keep the pressure on them for long, long periods of time we hopefully can come out on top."
The Windies are relying on the rapid pace of Roach and Edwards to make early breakthroughs, before attacking with the spin of rising star Devendra Bishoo once the ball gets softer. The pitch at Kensington Oval is expected to be void of any grass, and if it deteriorates as the game progresses, it could prove a spinner's paradise towards the end of the match, and Hussey expects the same.
"I'm anticipating this pitch to be not quite as quick as what we played on last time and perhaps, as the game wears on, take a little bit more spin," he said. (ANI)
