Guwahati, April 7 (IANS) Security forces in Assam arrested four persons and recovered a crude bomb Saturday on the anniversary of the raising day of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA).
Assam police arrested the four persons from Lower Assam's Nalbari district on charges of sheltering ULFA militants and recovered one live round of .9 mm pistol from their possession on Saturday.
The four persons were identified as Deepak Patowari, Hitesh Deka, Pabitra Deka and Achyut Mazumdar, police said adding that some incriminating documents were also recovered from their possession.
"These four persons help ULFA militants in various activities and give shelter to them. They also distribute extortion notes of the outfit and deliver their messages from one place to another," said police.
Forces of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), which guards the Indo-Bhutan border in Assam, also recovered a crude bomb from a remote location in lower Assam's Baksa district Saturday.
