London, Apr 7(ANI): Former Manchester United striker and currently Queens Park Rangers' manager, Mark Hughes has warned his old boss Sir Alex Ferguson of the threat old foes Manchester City possess to them in near future.
Hughes, who was unceremoniously sacked as City's manager in 2009, only for Roberto Mancini to replace him, said City has the resources, which would ensure that they would pip United to become English champions in future.
"At some point in the near future they will win it, without a shadow of a doubt. That's because they have the resources to do it. It will happen for them," The Sun quoted Hughes, as saying.
"They have to go through the process of earning the right to win trophies. They have won one, the FA Cup, and that was a big step because you have to learn how to win trophies and the first one is difficult. It might take some time but they will get there," he added.
QPR is fighting to beat the relegation, and gave their chances a boost by beating Arsenal at Loftus Road last week.
Hughes admitted that getting a result at Old Trafford is a far trickier prospect. But he argued that United were not so hot if the opposition scored first.
He said: "You have to make sure you keep in the game and give yourself an opportunity to win it.
"If you go one or two down it becomes very difficult but United haven't been great this year when they have gone behind," he said.
"In terms of winning from falling behind they are lower down than you would expect. We will take encouragement from that," he added. (ANI)
