London, Apr 6(ANI): Veteran golfer Peter Alliss has said it is ridiculous to say that former World champion Tiger Woods is back to his best, and believes he won't reach the top again, since he has lost the aura that surrounded him.
"How you can be the greatest player in the world for 12 years and then have lessons how to swing again - unless the knee is bad and he has to make adjustments - I just don't understand," The Mirror quoted Alliss, as saying.
"It's like Pavarotti deciding he is going to sing baritone. It is bloody ridiculous. He has come back to some form two weeks ago but nobody pushed him. Graeme McDowell was with him for two or three holes but they all fell away. We have to see what happens to him under pressure - that is the fascination," he added.lliss believes Woods needs to win tournaments on a regular basis, and added that is highly unlikely now, as he has lost the fear factor about himself.
"I think it is unlikely he will return to his previous position this year. He needs to win three events this year and maybe four or five next year and then you can say he is back to his original form," Alliss said. The aura has gone. People used to say, 'Christ, I'm playing Tiger Woods'. Now they say, 'Get out of the way Tiger'," he added.Other players have had that aura. Sam Sneed had it, Arnold Palmer, Nicklaus in another way, but it becomes more and more difficult to get it back as you get older. Nobody knows if he will," he said. (ANI)
