A-Rod opens up on Facebook

New York, Apr 6 (ANI): Alex Rodriguez has become the latest celebrity to share his life with his fans on the social network site, Facebook.

"I just felt the time was right," News.com.au quoted him as telling ESPN.

"I want my fans to know how much I appreciate them.

"I have always been pretty private, but I like that I'm getting the chance to interact with my fans on a more personal level," he said.

Although the Yankee third baseman established the page (facebook.com/AROD) last September, he didn't start updating it until March 30.

"Had a nice talk before last night's game with a charity buzz contest winner at Steinbrenner Field. One of the things I enjoy about spring training is that I get the chance to meet some fans 1-on-1 before games," his first status update.

Since then, he's posted several more times, including an adorable candid photo of himself with his two daughters, Natasha, 7, and Ella, 3, who are busy razzing the camera.
