New Delhi, Apr 3 (ANI): Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday said India has consistently pressed for the arrest and interrogation of 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks mastermind Hafiz Saeed, but Pakistan continues to be in a denial mode.
"We have consistently pressed for his arrest and interrogation. Pakistan was in denial and I think continues to be in denial, but I think the fact that the U.S. has finally recognized that Hafiz Saeed and his organization, the LeT, are involved in terrorist activities," he said.
Chidambaram said India had shared enough information with Pakistan on Saeed.
"As you are aware, India has consistently taken the position that Hafiz Saeed was one of the persons, who masterminded the Mumbai terror attacks. When I had visited Pakistan on other occasions, we have handed over a complete dossier on Hafiz Saeed. We had given a compact disc containing speeches and we had sort his voice samples," Chidambaram said.
"There is enough material to detain and integrate him. But Pakistan is yet to take action against Saeed," he added.
The United States has declared a bounty of 10 million dollars on Saeed under its Rewards for Justice programme.
Pakistan-based Hafiz Saeed is the founder of one of the deadliest terrorist outfits Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and the chief of the banned Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD).
Saeed is believed to be the mastermind of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks in which 166 people, including six Americans, were killed. He is on India's most wanted list. (ANI)
