Johannesburg, Apr 3 (ANI): Whitney Houston's gowns and jewellery were sold off at an auction which also saw Charlie Chaplin's trademark hat and cane fetch 100,000 dollars.
The bamboo walking cane went for 42,000 dollars on Sunday while the bowler hat was snapped up for 58,000 dollars on the second day of the two-day sale.
A riding coat worn by Clark Gable in 'Gone with the Wind' sold for 57,600 dollars, at nearly four times its reserve price of 10 to 15,000 dollars, while Charlton Heston's robe from 'The Ten Commandments' fetched 66,420 dollars and his staff 44,800 dollars, 24.com reported.
On Saturday, fans and collectors had snapped up a selection of gowns, stage clothes and gems belonging to Houston, weeks after her death aged 48.
Prices reached more than five times their reserve on some items, including two pairs of earrings worn in the 1992 movie 'The Bodyguard' for 2880 dollars and 7040 dollars.
Houston's items were on offer on the first of a two-day Hollywood Legends sale at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills.
A stage-worn beaded bustier went under the hammer for 19,200 dollars, more than three times its estimate of 4000 to 6000 dollars, while a brown satin vest from 'The Bodyguard' sold for 3520 dollars.
Other items sold at the auction included a Christopher Reeve costume from 'Superman IV: The Quest for Peace', which went for 35,200 dollars.
A dress worn by Princess Diana in 1992 - a beaded pewter chiffon evening gown by designer Catherine Walker - sold for 108,000 dollars. (ANI)
