Glasgow, Apr 3(ANI): Controversial rugby player Gavin Henson has been dismissed by his club Cardiff Blues, following an alcohol-fuelled incident on the Blues return journey from Glasgow during the weekend.
Henson was a second-half replacement in the 31-3 Pro12 defeat by Glasgow Warriors at Firhill Arena on Friday night.
He has been suspended with instant effect by his the club after drinking and misbehaving on the early morning flight from Glasgow to Cardiff.
Region's millionaire chairman Peter Thomas, chief executive Richard Holland and the senior management team met on Monday to discuss Henson's imminent future.
The meeting culminated with a decision of Henson's dismissal with immediate effect.
"Gavin admitted himself that his behavior was totally unacceptable and the immediate termination of his contract sends out a clear message that behavior like that will not be tolerated at the Blues," The Telegraph quoted Holland, as saying.
"We have a duty to our supporters and sponsors to protect the good name of Cardiff Blues and those associated with our brand," he added.
"Gavin is obviously a talented rugby player and it's unfortunate that his career at the Blues has ended this way. However, we would like to thank him for his service and wish him the best of luck with his future career," he said. (ANI)
