Islamabad, Apr 3(ANI): Transparency International has sought the support of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for the inclusion of independent directors on the International Cricket Council (ICC) board.
Transparency International's Pakistan adviser Syed Adil Gilani transmitted to PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf a copy of the letter written by Transparency International Managing Director Cobus de Swardt to ICC President Sharad Pawer.
The letter called for the inclusion of independent directors to address governance challenges confronting cricket.
Swardt lauded the ICC for commissioning its far-reaching independent governance review carried out by Lord Woolf and Price Waterhouse Coopers.
"Paramount is the inclusion of independent directors on the ICC board. In our submission to Lord Woolf, which was signed by Transparency International chapters from all the full ICC member countries, we underlined the importance of independent oversight along with other key reforms to prevent corruption," he said.
"To this end, we welcome the recommendations in Lord Woolf's report and in particular those related to ethics and anti-corruption," the Dawn quoted Swardt, as saying. (ANI)
