Sydney, Apr 2 (ANI): Australian pacer Peter Siddle believes that Ryan Harris is right in the mix to play in the first Test against the West Indies starting on Saturday.
Harris was dismissive of the prospect of making the team for the series opener in Barbados before leaving for the Caribbean, claiming he'd fallen behind Siddle, James Pattinson and Ben Hilfenhaus in the pecking order.
But Siddle said Harris is a contender to play, given the conditions encountered so far by Australia in the Caribbean, The Sydney Morning Herald reports.
"I guess just not playing so much cricket over the summer, that's how he feels, but if you look at how he went about the stuff in Sri Lanka, with the wickets produced in the last couple of weeks looking pretty similar, he performed well there," Siddle said.
"I think he's counting himself out too soon. He's a great bowler and does do quite well in conditions like this," he said.
The line-up for the Test match is uncertain, but it's believed Australia is keen to use as many players as possible.
Siddle, who missed the one-day and Twenty20 matches after being omitted from both squads, should be the front runner to lead the attack at Kensington Oval for the first Test. (ANI)
