Astana (Kazakhstan), April 1 (IANS) Woman wrestler Geeta made history as she became the first female Indian wrestler to qualify for the Olympic Games.
Geeta in 55 kg category won the gold in the Asian qualifying tournament held here, thus qualifying for the London Games.
In the final bout, she defeated South Korea's Ji-Eun.
Anita (63 kg) failed to qualify despite winning the bronze medal, said a Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) statement.
Geeta was the first Indian woman to win a gold medal in wrestling in the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
