St Lucia (West Indies), Mar 25(ANI): Australian cricketer Shane Watson has reckoned his team has continually allowed its opponents to dominate matches and stressed the need to attain consistency for today's do-or-die game
"We've seriously got to sit down and make sure we get it right for the next game because we can't afford to be in the position that we were and then let Kieron go away the way he did.In the middle period we've been excellent in most games but we haven't been able to finish off in the bowling side of things," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Watson, as saying.
"In the batting side of things, me or Dave Warner, we've got to go on and get a big score to really set the platform for the batting innings," he added.
His statement came after the West Indies took an unbeatable 2-1 lead in the five-match series following the St. Lucia Test win.
Watson is aware that a responsibility to avert a series defeat rests with him.
"It's not good enough to get off to a good start but then not go on with it.That's something that I personally need to sort out because it isn't good enough, especially when we're chasing a big total," he added.
Meanwhile, South Africa's top-order batsman Hashim Amla is unlikely to feature in the rest of the third Test against New Zealand after undergoing emergency surgery for a groin injury.
"The surgeon is satisfied with the outcome and expects Hashim to make a full recovery, however, it is unlikely that he will be able to take further part in the current Test match," South Africa manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee said. (ANI)
