New York, Mar.29 (ANI): Former International Monetary Fund (IMF) president Dominique Strauss-Kahn's bid to dodge a civil lawsuit from a hotel maid who has accused him of rape, has not been accepted by State Supreme Court Justice Douglas McKeon.
According to the Daily Mail Judge McKeon repeatedly interrupted lawyers representing Strauss-Kahn when they tried to claim he is protected by diplomatic immunity.
One of his lawyers, Indian-origin Amit Mehta claimed that Strauss-Kahn was shielded from suits by a 1947 UN agreement.9
Judge McKeon vigorously questioned Mehta, pointing out that Strauss-Kahn did not raise the immunity issue when prosecutors were charging him for the alleged rape of New York hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo.
Judge McKeon also pointed out that the US never signed the 1947 agreement.
McKeon said he would rule on the matter "expeditiously" but didn't set a date. (ANI)
